The SMITH EQUIPMENT mc12-4 is a one-piece acetylene cutting tip engineered for handheld torch cutting applications in the MC Medium Duty series. Rated for a cutting thickness range of 2.5 inches to 4 inches, it delivers a medium preheat flame using acetylene fuel at 10 psi and oxygen at 65 psi. The tip operates with a preheat acetylene flow of 12 scfh, a preheat oxygen flow of 14 scfh, and a cutting oxygen flow of 249 to 320 scfh. The one-piece construction provides a durable, single-unit tip body suited for consistent field use. Licensed welding and cutting professionals install this tip as part of routine torch maintenance or when switching between cutting thickness ranges.
The mc12-4 is designed for handheld oxyfuel cutting setups running acetylene gas service. It is appropriate for medium-duty cutting tasks on steel plate from 2.5 inches up to 4 inches thick. This tip fits into the MC Medium Duty series cutting attachments and is a direct-fit component for those assemblies. It is commonly used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, demolition cutting, and field service where portable oxy-acetylene equipment is standard.
Compatible with cutting attachments AC309, CC509P, DG109A, MC505, and MC509. Designed for Smith handheld torch systems using acetylene gas service in the MC Medium Duty series.
Installation and removal of cutting tips should be performed by a qualified welder or cutting professional with the gas supply fully shut off and system pressure bled down to zero before handling. Use the correct tip wrench to seat the tip properly — overtightening can damage the seat and cause leaks. Always perform a leak check at all connections before igniting the torch. Follow applicable compressed gas and oxyfuel safety codes, including CGA guidelines, when setting up or servicing oxyfuel cutting equipment.
