The SKYCO CHEMICALS OSPHO-14 is a phosphoric acid-based rust treatment designed to chemically convert iron oxide into iron phosphate, an inert, hard compound that bonds to the metal surface and turns it black. This is a metal conditioner, not a paint or primer. It works on ferrous metals and aluminum in both interior and exterior applications. Licensed coating applicators, maintenance painters, ironworkers, and industrial maintenance crews use OSPHO-14 as a surface prep step before applying oil-base primers and topcoats. One gallon covers approximately 600 square feet. The product contains phosphoric acid and requires adequate ventilation during application.
OSPHO-14 is suited for use on new or rusted ferrous metals and aluminum surfaces across residential, commercial, and industrial maintenance applications. Typical scenarios include structural steel prep, equipment refurbishment, and maintenance painting on metal surfaces exposed to corrosion. It performs equally well on interior and underground surfaces as on exterior installations. It is recommended as a pre-treatment under oil-base primers and paints. When used under epoxy or latex systems, test a small area first to confirm adhesion compatibility before full application.
Designed for use on new and rusted ferrous metals and aluminum. Recommended for use under oil-base primers and paints. Test compatibility on a small area before applying under epoxy or latex-base coatings.
Application is typically performed by maintenance painters, coating applicators, or ironworkers as part of a surface preparation workflow. Power down or de-energize any equipment before treating metal surfaces. Use adequate ventilation in confined or enclosed spaces. Skin and eye protection must be worn during application. Allow overnight drying before applying topcoat.
