The SK 41244 is a male pipe plug socket designed for installing and removing male pipe plugs in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. This socket accepts a 1/2 inch drive and features a 7/16 inch hex with a 0.438 inch socket size and a 4-point contact design. The 4-point configuration provides a firm, positive engagement on male pipe plugs, reducing the risk of rounding or slipping during installation or removal. Built for long service life and maximum corrosion resistance, this socket is suited for use by plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and maintenance professionals who regularly work with threaded pipe fittings.
This socket is used wherever male pipe plugs must be installed or removed in threaded piping systems. Typical applications include sealing unused ports on manifolds, pipe tees, valves, and pressure vessels in residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, and HVAC refrigerant or gas piping. It is compatible with standard 1/2 inch drive ratchets, torque wrenches, and extension bars, making it practical for both open installations and confined spaces where standard wrenches cannot reach.
Designed as a direct-fit socket for 7/16 inch hex male pipe plugs used in standard threaded piping applications. Compatible with any 1/2 inch drive tool.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code or International Fuel Gas Code. Isolate and depressurize the piping system and relieve any residual pressure before installing or removing pipe plugs. Use a calibrated torque wrench when a specific torque is required by the fitting manufacturer or the applicable code. Avoid over-driving the socket, which can damage the plug head or the socket itself.
