The SIOUX CHIEF 645wg3p is a straight adapter designed to connect PEX underground water service lines to PVC in-house piping systems using the F1960 cold expansion fitting standard. Built for cold water applications only, this adapter bridges the transition between PEX tubing and Schedule 40 PVC pipe, making it a practical solution for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where these two piping materials meet at the service entry point. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This adapter is commonly used at the point where an underground PEX water service line enters a structure and transitions to interior PVC distribution piping. The PVC socket end is engineered for use with Schedule 40 PVC pipe conforming to ASTM D1785, ensuring dimensional compatibility and a reliable solvent-welded joint on the PVC side. The F1960 end accepts a cold expansion ring for a secure, tool-required PEX connection. This fitting is suited for residential new construction and service line replacement projects where cold water supply is being brought into the building.
Compatible with Schedule 40 PVC pipe conforming to ASTM D1785 on the socket end, and F1960 cold expansion PEX tubing on the PEX end. Designed for cold water service line applications only.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the main water supply and relieve line pressure before beginning any connection work. The PVC socket end requires solvent cement rated for PVC per applicable standards — do not use this adapter for hot water lines. The F1960 PEX end requires a cold expansion tool and the appropriate expansion ring; follow the fitting manufacturer's expansion and insertion procedure to ensure a leak-free joint.
