The SIOUX CHIEF 641WP443 is a polypropylene push-fit tee fitting designed to the ASTM F1960 standard for use with PEX-A tubing systems. This cold-expansion fitting creates a secure, leak-resistant connection by expanding the PEX-A pipe end and allowing it to compress over the fitting body as it returns to its original diameter. The 641WP443 features a 1 inch by 1 inch by 3/4 inch reducing configuration, making it well-suited for branch line transitions within residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of F1960 expansion fittings.
This tee is used in PEX-A potable water distribution systems where a main run of 1 inch tubing requires a reduced 3/4 inch branch takeoff. Typical applications include residential trunk-and-branch or home-run plumbing layouts, radiant heating supply and return manifold connections, and light commercial domestic water piping. The F1960 cold-expansion connection method is widely favored for its reliability and the absence of solder, flame, or chemical adhesive during installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for PEX-A tubing plumbing systems installed to the ASTM F1960 cold-expansion standard.
Installation requires a proper F1960 PEX-A expansion tool sized for each port diameter — do not attempt to use this fitting with PEX-B or PEX-C tubing, as those systems use different connection methods. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any connections. Work is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local amendments. Allow the expanded pipe end adequate time to recover around the fitting body before pressurizing the system.
