The SIOUX CHIEF 641WP223 is an F1960 cold-expansion PEX tee fitting designed for joining PEX tubing in potable water distribution and hydronic plumbing systems. Sized at 1/2 x 1/2 x 3/4 inches, this reducing tee allows a 3/4-inch run to branch into 1/2-inch lines, a common configuration in residential and light commercial water distribution. The fitting conforms to the ASTM F1960 standard, which uses an expansion-style connection method that cold-expands the PEX tubing and fitting ring before joining. Licensed plumbers and PEX installers are the primary trade for this component.
This fitting is suited for in-wall and in-ceiling rough-in work where PEX tubing is run for hot and cold water supply. The reducing configuration handles transitions from a main trunk line down to branch drops serving fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and appliances. It is appropriate for both open-loop potable water systems and closed-loop hydronic heating applications where F1960 expansion fittings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for F1960 expansion PEX plumbing systems using 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch PEX tubing.
Installation requires a calibrated F1960 PEX expansion tool and correctly sized expansion rings for each tubing diameter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing system. Follow IPC and local plumbing code requirements for PEX installation, including support spacing and minimum bend radius. Do not use F1960 fittings with crimp-style or clamp-style PEX connections without the appropriate adapters.
