The SIOUX CHIEF 556-2 is a nail-in pipe support strap, commonly called a pick-up talon, designed to secure 1/2-inch copper tubing to wood framing members. The integrated nail allows for fast, one-hand installation, eliminating the need for separate fasteners. Plumbers and pipe fitters use this type of fitting during rough-in work to keep supply lines neatly routed and properly supported between joists, studs, and blocking. It is a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing installations.
This talon is suited for 1/2-inch copper tube applications in domestic water supply systems. It is typically installed during the rough-in phase before walls and ceilings are closed. The nail-in design speeds up production work where a large number of support points are needed across multiple framing bays. It is appropriate for use in wood-framed residential construction as well as light commercial framing where copper supply lines are routed through or along structural members.
Designed as an OEM-style support fitting for 1/2-inch copper tube in residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers during the rough-in phase. Shut off water supply before repositioning or removing existing pipe. Drive the integral nail flush into the framing member using a hammer, taking care not to deform the talon body or kink the tube. Support spacing should comply with local plumbing code and IPC guidelines for copper tubing.
