The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE SDWS22600DB-R50 is a Strong-Drive structural wood screw engineered as a high-strength alternative to through-bolts and traditional lag screws. At 0.22 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length, this screw delivers exceptional holding power through a bold thread design and patented 4CUT tip that allows fast starts with reduced installation torque. In most applications, pre-drilling is not required. A low-profile head keeps the finished surface clean and interference-free after installation. The Double-Barrier coating qualifies this fastener for exterior and preservative-treated wood use. Each package contains 50 screws and includes a T-40 bit.
This screw is used in structural wood framing and general heavy fastening applications where through-bolting or lag screws would otherwise be required. Typical uses include ledger attachments, beam-to-post connections, and other load-bearing wood-to-wood joints in residential and light commercial construction. The low-profile head design suits applications where a flush or near-flush finish is required at the fastening point. Installation is performed with a low-speed 1/2-inch drill motor using the included T-40 bit. A deep 6-lobe Star Drive reduces cam-out during driving, improving consistency across repetitive fastening tasks.
Designed as a structural replacement fastener for through-bolt and lag screw connections in wood framing applications. Suitable for use with exterior and preservative-treated lumber where a Double-Barrier-coated fastener is required.
Installation is performed by a qualified carpenter, framing contractor, or structural tradesperson. Power down any adjacent electrical runs and follow applicable building codes before beginning structural fastening work. Use a low-speed 1/2-inch drill motor with the included T-40 bit for best results — high-speed driving can reduce holding performance and increase the risk of cam-out. Verify local building code and engineering requirements before substituting this screw for engineered connection hardware specified on construction drawings.
