The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE N10D5HDG-R is a 10d hot-dipped galvanized joist hanger nail designed specifically for use with Simpson Strong-Tie structural connectors and framing hardware. Measuring 1-1/2 inches in length and manufactured from 9-gauge wire, these nails are engineered to meet the load-transfer requirements of joist hangers, hurricane ties, post caps, and similar connectors. The hot-dip galvanizing process provides corrosion resistance suited for treated lumber and outdoor framing applications. Each 5-pound box contains 600 nails packed in a resealable container for convenient jobsite handling and storage.
These nails are intended for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction. Typical applications include fastening joist hangers, beam seats, post bases, and other structural connectors to dimensional lumber framing. The 1-1/2-inch length is sized specifically for connector flange thickness, keeping nails within framing members without blowout. Framers, carpenters, and general contractors working on floor systems, deck framing, and roof structures will encounter these fasteners as a standard specification item wherever Simpson Strong-Tie connectors are called out on engineered drawings.
Designed for use with Simpson Strong-Tie structural connectors requiring 10d x 1-1/2 inch joist hanger nails, including joist hangers, hurricane ties, post caps, and similar wood-frame connector hardware as specified in the manufacturer load tables.
Installation is typically performed by licensed framers or carpenters following IBC and IRC framing specifications. Drive nails fully into all designated connector holes — partial or missing nails directly reduce the rated load capacity of the connector. Always follow the specific connector installation instructions and load tables provided by Simpson Strong-Tie. When used with pressure-treated lumber rated ACQ or CA, the hot-dip galvanized coating is the minimum corrosion-resistance classification accepted by most building codes — verify local requirements before installation.
