The SIMPSON STRONG TIE LSTA9 is a 20-gauge G90 galvanized strap tie designed to create reliable structural connections in wood-frame construction. Measuring 1-1/4 inches wide and 9 inches long, it is sized to work with standard 2x dimensional lumber. The G90 hot-dipped galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance in exposed or treated-lumber environments. Installation is completed with 12 hot-dipped galvanized 10D common nails. This strap tie is commonly installed by framers, carpenters, and general contractors on residential and light commercial projects where code-compliant connectors are required at critical framing junctions.
The LSTA9 is suited for applications at wall intersections, ridge ties, and locations where plates or soles are cut or interrupted. Its flat strap profile allows it to span across framing members and transfer tension loads across the connection. The 1-1/4-inch width and 9-inch length make it a compact solution for tight framing situations where larger hardware is impractical. It is sold in packages of 50 units, making it practical for production framing or multi-connection installations.
Designed for use with standard 2x dimensional lumber framing at wall intersections, ridge ties, and locations where plates or soles are cut.
Installation is performed by qualified framers or carpenters following applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC framing provisions. Use only hot-dipped galvanized 10D common nails as specified — substituting fastener type or size may affect load ratings. When used with pressure-treated lumber, verify that the G90 coating meets the corrosion-resistance requirements of the applicable code for the treatment chemical in use. Do not bend or modify the strap in the field, as deformation can reduce structural performance.
