The SIMPSON STRONG TIE LSTA24 is a G90 galvanized strap tie designed for structural applications where plates or soles have been cut, including wall intersections and ridge ties. Fabricated from 20-gauge galvanized steel with a G90 coating, this strap tie measures 24 inches long and 1-1/4 inches wide. It is engineered to fit flush on 2-inch lumber and features nail holes spaced at 3-inch centers to reduce the risk of wood splitting during fastening. Carpenters, framers, and structural contractors install this connector as part of light-frame wood construction assemblies.
The LSTA24 is suited for residential and light commercial framing applications. Common install scenarios include connecting top plates at wall intersections, securing ridge members, and reinforcing areas where structural lumber has been notched or cut. The 3-inch nail spacing pattern supports consistent load distribution across the connection. Fastening is accomplished with 12 hot-dipped galvanized 10D common nails, making it compatible with standard framing nail schedules used in wood-frame construction.
Designed as an OEM-style structural connector for use with 2-inch dimensional lumber in light-frame wood construction assemblies at wall intersections and ridge tie locations.
Installation is performed by licensed carpenters, framers, or general contractors working under applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC framing provisions. Ensure lumber surfaces are clean and flush before applying the strap tie. Use only hot-dipped galvanized fasteners with galvanized connectors to prevent accelerated corrosion at the contact point. Do not substitute shorter or smooth-shank nails for the specified 10D common nails, as this will reduce the rated connection capacity.
