The SIMPSON STRONG TIE HRS6 is a heavy-gauge strap tie designed for structural connections in wood-frame construction and renovation work. Fabricated from 12-gauge galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance and long-term load performance in exposed or protected framing assemblies. The HRS6 is sized at 1-3/8 inches wide by 6 inches long and is engineered to fit on the edge of two-by lumber. It fastens with either six 10D common nails or 9 x 1-1/2 inch Strong-Drive SD screws. Structural carpenters, framers, and general contractors install this connector when reinforcing joints, tying lumber across connections, or adding rigidity to wall, floor, and roof framing systems.
The HRS6 is suited for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction, including new builds and structural renovation projects. It is commonly used at bearing walls, header connections, and rim board tie-ins where additional strap reinforcement is required. The edge-of-lumber profile keeps the fastener out of the framing plane, making it practical in tight framing assemblies. Each package contains 25 connectors, supporting bulk installation across multi-unit or whole-structure framing scopes.
Designed as an OEM-style structural strap tie for use with standard dimensional two-by lumber in wood-frame construction assemblies.
Installation is performed by qualified framers or carpenters following applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC structural fastening requirements. Confirm lumber is properly positioned and braced before driving fasteners. Use only the specified fastener type and count to achieve rated load values. Do not substitute fastener size or quantity without consulting the load tables published by the manufacturer.
