The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE H8 is a hurricane tie connector engineered to resist uplift and lateral forces in wood-framed structures. It is designed to counter the effects of high wind and seismic events, making it a critical component in roofline assemblies where rafter-to-top-plate connections must meet code-required load resistance. The H8 also serves as an all-purpose tie wherever one structural member crosses another, including strongback attachments and general framing tie applications. Installers work in pairs, connecting one H8 to each side of a 2x rafter at the top plate bearing point.

The H8 is used in residential and light commercial wood-frame construction, primarily at the roof-to-wall connection. It is installed by framing carpenters and contractors during new construction and by structural contractors during retrofit or re-roofing work in high-wind or seismic zones. It is suited for applications where lateral and uplift resistance is required at rafter bearing points.
