The SIMPSON STRONG TIE A35Z is an 18-gauge Z-Max coated steel framing angle designed to create solid 90-degree connections between wood framing members. It is used in light-frame construction where corrosion resistance and lateral load resistance are required. The Z-Max coating provides enhanced protection against treated lumber chemicals, making it suitable for ACQ and other preservative-treated wood applications. Integrated Speed Prongs are stamped into the plate to help position the connector during installation and reduce fastener movement. This connector is installed by licensed framing contractors, general contractors, and experienced builders.
The A35Z is suited for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction. It is commonly installed at 90-degree framing intersections, including stud-to-plate, header-to-king-stud, and similar connections in wall, floor, and roof assemblies. It is designed for use with 2x3 and 2x4 lumber. Each connector is fastened using twelve 8d x 1-1/2 inch HDG nails. This product is sold in a package of 100 connectors.
Designed for use with 2x3 and 2x4 dimensional lumber in wood-frame construction assemblies requiring 90-degree angle connections.
Installation is performed by qualified framing contractors or carpenters in accordance with applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC requirements. Power down any adjacent electrical circuits and shut off relevant utilities before working in energized or mechanically active assemblies. Use the specified 8d x 1-1/2 inch HDG nails and fill all nail holes in the connector to achieve the listed load values. Do not substitute fastener type or quantity, as doing so will affect the rated capacity of the connection.
