The SIGMA CORPORATION PWP-C8 is an 8-inch PV-Lok serrated lock pipe joint restraint designed to secure PVC bell and spigot pipe joints in pressurized water distribution systems. The restraint uses two PV-Lok clamping rings tied together by restraining rods and nuts, with machine-serrated contact surfaces that engage PVC pipe walls to provide positive joint security. The serrations grip directionally, maximizing holdback force during pressure surges and water hammer events. The clamping ring is cast from ductile iron meeting ASTM A-536 grade 65-45-12, and the assembly is coated with red alkyd paint for corrosion protection.
This restraint is suited for use on 8-inch PVC pressure pipe in municipal water mains, water service laterals, and underground distribution piping. It accommodates a bell end and spigot joint configuration. The working pressure rating equals the rated pressure of the pipe it is installed on, with a minimum 2:1 safety factor. Typical applications include new main installation and repair tie-ins where unrestrained push-on joints require added mechanical holdback. Side clamping bolts and hex nuts are high-strength steel per ASTM A-449, zinc-plated per B-663 Type III for corrosion resistance.
Designed for use on 8-inch PVC pressure pipe in bell and spigot joint configurations meeting AWWA C-900 and AWWA C-905 standards. Compliant with ANSI A21.11 and FM Approved for use in municipal water distribution systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed waterworks contractors or utility plumbers working on pressurized water mains. The line must be depressurized and isolated before fitting the restraint assembly. Tighten side clamping bolts and restraining rod nuts evenly in a cross pattern per standard torquing practice for ductile iron restraint hardware. Follow applicable AWWA installation guidelines and local water authority requirements for joint restraint on PVC pressure pipe.
