The SIGMA 819905605 is a FIG 383 Type A hex head pipe bushing designed to reduce a 3/4-inch male NPT connection down to a 1/2-inch female NPT port. Constructed from malleable iron with a hot-dip galvanized finish, this bushing delivers corrosion resistance suited to wet or outdoor piping environments. The hex head profile allows standard wrench engagement for secure, leak-free installation. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in threaded pipe systems where a threaded reduction is needed without the use of a coupling and reducer combination.
This bushing is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC piping systems where galvanized malleable iron fittings are specified. Typical applications include water supply lines, compressed air distribution, and general-purpose black or galvanized pipe assemblies. The MNPT x FNPT configuration allows the fitting to thread directly into a female-threaded port while accepting a smaller male-threaded pipe or fitting on the interior seat.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded galvanized and black malleable iron pipe systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC and local mechanical codes. Shut off the water supply or depressurize the system before installing or replacing threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
