The SIGMA 819900770 is a malleable iron pipe cap rated at 150 lb, designed to close off the end of a threaded pipe in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. This cap features a female national pipe taper (FNPT) end style, making it straightforward to thread onto standard male-threaded pipe ends. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suited to a wide range of indoor and outdoor service environments. It is sized for 2-1/2 inch nominal pipe and is domestically manufactured, which matters on projects with Buy American or domestic-content requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This pipe cap is used wherever a threaded pipe run needs to be terminated or pressure-tested. Common applications include water distribution, fire protection rough-in, gas piping (where code permits galvanized fittings), and HVAC hydronic systems. The 150 lb pressure class covers the majority of low- and medium-pressure commercial and residential service conditions. It installs in both new construction and retrofit scenarios where an existing run must be capped and sealed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service fitting compatible with 2-1/2 inch nominal male NPT threaded pipe ends in 150 lb-rated malleable iron piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before threading on the cap. Apply an appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to bring the fitting to full thread engagement without over-torquing, which can crack malleable iron fittings.
