The SIGMA 811088418 is a malleable iron galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters in threaded piping systems. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting transitions a 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe down to a 1 inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in wet or exposed environments. It is commonly installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in water distribution, HVAC hydronic, and general industrial piping systems.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where a threaded reduction is needed between two straight runs of pipe. The FNPT end style on both ends allows for straightforward installation with standard pipe dope or PTFE tape. It is appropriate for use in water supply lines, low-pressure steam systems, and general fluid conveyance where a 150 lb malleable iron fitting meets system pressure and material requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for 1-1/2 inch by 1 inch nominal FNPT malleable iron reducing coupling applications in 150 lb rated piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns for the pipe size without overtightening malleable iron. Inspect threads on mating pipe ends for damage before installation.
