The SIGMA 811088210 is a malleable iron galvanized reducing coupling designed for threaded pipe systems operating at up to 150 lb pressure class. Configured to FIG 3121R pattern, this fitting transitions a 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe down to a 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suited to water, gas, and general industrial piping applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during rough-in work when reducing line sizes between supply runs or branch connections.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where a threaded transition between two different pipe diameters is required. Typical applications include domestic water distribution, natural gas supply lines, compressed air systems, and industrial fluid conveyance. The 150 lb pressure rating makes it appropriate for standard service conditions found in most building mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded malleable iron pipe systems using 1-1/2 inch and 1-1/4 inch nominal NPT pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to proper engagement using a pipe wrench. Do not overtighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
