The SIGMA 811087808 is a malleable iron galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect threaded pipe runs where a size reduction from 1-1/4 inches to 3/4 inches is required. Both ends feature female national pipe thread (FNPT) connections and the fitting is rated for 150 lb service. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for installations in wet or exposed environments. This fitting is commonly installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters on low-pressure threaded pipe systems in commercial and residential applications.
This reducing coupling is suited for use in threaded pipe assemblies where a transition between nominal 1-1/4 inch and 3/4 inch pipe sizes is needed. Typical applications include water distribution, general plumbing supply lines, and low-pressure compressed air or gas piping systems where malleable iron fittings are specified. The FIG 3121R designation identifies this as a standard reducing coupling within the manufacturer's threaded malleable iron fitting line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for standard 150 lb threaded malleable iron pipe systems using nominal 1-1/4 inch and 3/4 inch NPT pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply a listed thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
