The SIGMA 811016609 is a FIG 3103 standard street elbow designed to change flow direction in threaded pipe systems. It features a male NPT inlet on one end and a female NPT outlet on the other, allowing it to connect directly to a fitting without a separate pipe nipple in between. Rated at 150 lb, this elbow is constructed from galvanized malleable iron, providing corrosion resistance and the ductility needed to handle mechanical stress without cracking. It is sized for 1-inch nominal pipe and is suitable for use in gas, water, and steam distribution applications within its pressure rating.
This street elbow is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and industrial service lines where a compact directional change is needed in a threaded iron pipe system. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for exposed or moderately corrosive environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically specify this fitting when assembling threaded black or galvanized iron pipe runs where space constraints make a street configuration more practical than a standard elbow with a nipple.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch nominal threaded iron pipe systems rated to 150 lb service class.
Installation of threaded pipe fittings should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus a measured number of turns per standard practice for the pipe size. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as excessive torque can crack the casting.
