The SIGMA 811009018 is a 90-degree reducing pipe elbow rated at 150 lb, designed for use in threaded pipe assemblies where a direction change and a pipe size reduction are required in the same fitting. Manufactured from malleable iron with a galvanized finish, this elbow transitions from a 1-1/4 inch nominal female NPT inlet to a 1 inch nominal female NPT outlet. The galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance suited to water supply, industrial, and mechanical piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This reducing elbow is used in residential and commercial piping systems where a 90-degree turn and simultaneous pipe reduction are needed in a single connection. Typical applications include water supply distribution, hydronic heating systems, compressed air lines, and general mechanical piping. The FNPT end style on both ports allows direct thread engagement with standard NPT male-threaded pipe and fittings, making it compatible with common schedule 40 threaded pipe assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 150 lb malleable iron threaded pipe systems using NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes including the IPC and local plumbing standards. Depressurize and drain the pipe system completely before removing any existing fittings or installing this elbow. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement, and tighten to proper thread engagement using a pipe wrench. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
