The SIGMA 810087619 is a malleable iron reducing coupling designed to connect two threaded pipe sections of different diameters in a piping system. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting uses female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends to create a secure, leak-resistant joint when transitioning from 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe to 1 inch nominal pipe. The black oxide finish provides a degree of corrosion resistance suited to indoor and sheltered installations. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of coupling in low-pressure gas, water, and steam distribution systems where reducing the line size is required.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and piping applications. It is well suited for branch line reductions, riser connections, and equipment inlet fittings where the supply line is larger than the port being served. Typical install scenarios include natural gas distribution, hydronic heating, compressed air, and general water service piping. The FNPT end style requires standard tapered pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on both ends during assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service fitting compatible with 1-1/4 inch by 1 inch nominal threaded pipe systems using 150 lb class malleable iron fittings per ANSI/ASME B16.3 standards.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before engagement, following IFGC or IPC guidelines as applicable to the service type. Do not over-torque the fitting, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive force.
