The SIGMA 810010009 is a FIG 3101R 90-degree reducing pipe elbow rated at 150 lb, manufactured from malleable iron with a black oxide finish. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch nominal inlet to a 3/4 inch nominal outlet using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. This fitting is designed for use in low-pressure piping systems where a directional change and pipe reduction are needed at a single connection point. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of elbow in steam, water, gas, and air distribution systems in both residential and light commercial applications.
This reducing elbow is suited for threaded pipe assemblies in mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and industrial piping runs. The 90-degree turn makes it appropriate for routing pipe around obstructions or transitioning between pipe planes while simultaneously stepping down pipe diameter. The FNPT end style accepts standard NPT-threaded pipe on both the larger and smaller ends, making it compatible with conventional threaded iron pipe fittings throughout the system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb class malleable iron threaded piping systems using NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B16.3 standards for malleable iron fittings. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before assembly, and tighten to the fitting manufacturer's standard practice — do not overtighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque. Confirm system pressure and fluid compatibility are within the 150 lb pressure class rating before returning the system to service.
