The SIGMA 810009605 is a FIG 3101R 90-degree reducing pipe elbow designed for threaded piping systems in commercial and industrial plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical piping applications. It features female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends and transitions from a 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe size to a 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe size, making it a direct solution for reducing a branch or main run without additional couplings. Rated at 150 lb working pressure, the fitting is cast from malleable iron with a black oxide finish that provides baseline corrosion resistance in dry or low-moisture environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this class of fitting.
This reducing elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a 90-degree directional change and a simultaneous pipe size reduction are required in the same fitting. Typical applications include steam, air, water, and gas distribution lines where 150 lb malleable iron threaded fittings are specified. The FNPT end style accepts standard tapered pipe threads on mating pipe or nipples, keeping installation straightforward on retrofit and new-construction jobs alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems using 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe sizes with FNPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable code requirements, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Depressurize and drain the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads of the mating pipe before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus the manufacturer-recommended number of turns for the pipe size. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as cracking can occur.
