The SIGMA 810001610 is a FIG 3101 malleable iron pipe elbow rated for 150 lb service. It features female NPT (FNPT) end connections on a 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe size and is finished in black. Malleable iron construction provides the ductility needed to withstand mechanical stress and vibration in threaded pipe assemblies. This elbow is used to change flow direction in low-pressure piping systems and is a standard fitting for plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where a 90-degree directional change is required in a threaded iron pipe system. Typical uses include natural gas branch lines, steam and hot-water heating piping, compressed air distribution, and general industrial piping where a 150 lb malleable iron fitting meets system pressure requirements. The FNPT thread pattern conforms to standard NPT taper thread specifications for a reliable, leak-resistant mechanical joint when properly assembled with thread sealant or tape.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for 1-1/2 inch nominal threaded iron pipe systems rated at 150 lb service class.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable local plumbing and mechanical codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate pipe thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as excessive torque can crack the casting.
