The SHURTAPE SHUR-232032 is a 2 mil cold temperature aluminum foil tape engineered for HVAC duct sealing, insulation joining, and metal repair applications. It features a contractor-grade, acrylic-based adhesive formulated to maintain a strong bond through extreme temperature fluctuations and harsh weather conditions. The silver foil backing measures 2 inches wide and comes in a 150-foot roll, making it well-suited for larger jobs. This tape is built to seal and join aluminum-backed or fibrous insulation, connect metal ductwork sections, and create reliable water and vapor barriers in demanding service environments.
AF 975CT-series cold temperature foil tape is used primarily in residential and commercial HVAC installations where standard foil tapes may fail due to low ambient temperatures during application. It is appropriate for sealing duct joints, lapping insulation seams, and patching metal surfaces. HVAC technicians and insulation contractors reach for this product when working in unheated spaces, during winter construction, or in refrigerated environments where adhesive performance at low temperatures is critical.
Designed for use with aluminum-backed insulation, fibrous insulation board, and sheet metal ductwork commonly found in residential and commercial HVAC systems. Also suitable for general metal repair applications.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or insulation contractors following local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards. Before applying, clean the substrate surface of dust, oil, and moisture to ensure full adhesive contact. Power down the HVAC system before working on ductwork to prevent air movement that can compromise tape adhesion during application. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce long-term bond integrity.
