The SHURTAPE af975-2 is a 2 mil cold temperature aluminum foil tape engineered for HVAC and sheet metal applications. It seals and joins aluminum-backed or fibrous insulation, connects metal ductwork sections, forms water and vapor barriers, and supports metal repair work. The backing is dead-soft aluminum foil at 2 mil thickness, paired with a cold temperature, white, acrylic-based adhesive that maintains a strong bond through extreme temperature fluctuations and variable weather conditions. A non-contaminating, siliconized, flat, white paper release liner protects the adhesive until application. This is a contractor-grade product built for professional installation environments.
This tape is suited for residential and commercial HVAC duct sealing, insulation facing repairs, and vapor barrier work. It performs reliably in cold-temperature conditions where standard foil tape adhesives may fail, making it appropriate for installations in unconditioned spaces, cold climates, or during winter construction phases. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers. The roll measures 48mm wide by 46m long, providing practical run lengths for duct sealing tasks.
Designed for use with aluminum-backed insulation, fibrous insulation facing, and metal ductwork as an HVAC contractor-grade sealing and joining tape.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or loose material before tape application to ensure full adhesive contact. In cold-temperature environments, confirm the substrate is above the minimum application temperature recommended for acrylic-based adhesives. Apply firm pressure along the full tape length after placement to activate adhesive contact.
