The SHARKBITE ur3088fx18 is a braided flexible water heater connector designed for fast, tool-free connections between a water heater and existing supply piping. Built on SharkBite Max push-to-connect technology, this connector accepts PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, or HDPE SDR-9 pipe at the push-fit end and terminates with a 3/4-inch FIP threaded fitting on the opposite end. The 18-inch stainless steel braided hose provides flexibility to bridge misaligned pipes in tight mechanical spaces. The high-performance DZR lead-free brass body is rated to 140 degrees F and 200 psi, and no tube liner is required for PEX connections. Licensed plumbers and water heater installers are the primary trade for this fitting.
This connector is suited for residential water heater installations where the supply stub-out and heater inlet do not align perfectly. It is approved for use on both electric and gas water heaters equipped with a flue vent. The 18-inch flexible length provides enough slack to eliminate the need for additional offset fittings or adapters in most standard water heater closet and alcove installs. The push-fit end can be installed on wet, pressurized lines and pressure-tested immediately after connection, which is a significant advantage during service calls or heater replacements.
Approved for use on electric and gas water heaters with a flue vent. The push-fit end is compatible with PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, and HDPE SDR-9 pipe at a 3/4-inch diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before disconnecting the existing connector, though the push-fit end can be made on a wet line if needed. Ensure the pipe end is cut cleanly and deburred before insertion into the push-fit fitting. Use a SharkBite disconnect clip, disconnect tongs, or the pro disconnect tool if the fitting needs to be removed after installation.
