The SHARKBITE UR088A is a 3/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) push-to-connect adapter manufactured from one-piece DZR brass. It uses the SharkBite Max push-fit system, which requires no solder, glue, unions, or special tools to make a secure, leak-tight pipe connection. The redesigned stainless-steel retainer delivers added strength while reducing insertion effort compared to earlier generations. Rated at 250 psi and 200 degrees F, this fitting meets the demands of residential and light commercial plumbing systems. NSF-61, IAPMO, and UPC certifications confirm it complies with applicable U.S. and Canadian plumbing codes. Lead content on wetted surfaces does not exceed 0.25% weighted average, meeting lead-free requirements.
The UR088A is suited for potable water distribution, hydronic, and general plumbing applications where a transition from a threaded female iron pipe connection to copper, PEX, or CPVC pipe is required. The push-fit end accepts copper, PEX, CPVC, and PE-RT tubing, making it a versatile choice for new construction, renovation, and repair work. Fittings can be installed behind drywall or buried in direct-contact applications per manufacturer guidelines. A disconnect clip (sold separately) allows the fitting to be removed and reused when needed.
Compatible with copper, PEX, CPVC, and PE-RT tubing on the push-fit end. The threaded end connects to standard 3/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) fittings. Carries a 25-year warranty when properly installed on PEX, copper, CPVC, and PE-RT. Carries a five-year warranty when properly installed with HDPE SDR-9.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified tradespeople in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or modifying any pipe. Ensure the pipe end is cut square, deburred, and fully inserted to the depth mark before pressurizing. To remove the fitting, use a manufacturer-approved disconnect clip — do not attempt removal without the proper clip, as this can damage the retainer and void the seal.
