The SharkBite UP532A5 is a 5-pack of 1/2-inch poly alloy barb insert x 1/2-inch female iron pipe (FIP) swivel PEX elbow fittings designed for cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing in hot and cold potable water systems. Each fitting features an NSF-listed poly alloy insert body, offering a code-compliant alternative to traditional brass PEX insert fittings. Installation requires either copper crimp rings or a cinch clamp system. After crimping, each fitting can be pressure-tested to well over 100 psi immediately, allowing for fast verification of leak-free connections on the job.
These elbow fittings are suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where PEX tubing is run for domestic hot and cold water distribution. The FIP swivel end allows connection to female-threaded ports on valves, manifolds, or fixtures without twisting the tubing. Compatible cinch clamps are available under True Value part 608-933, and the required cinch tool is True Value part 608-743. Copper crimp rings on cross-linked PEX tubing are also an approved installation method for these fittings.
Designed for use with cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing for hot and cold water applications. Use with True Value 608-933 cinch clamps and True Value 608-743 cinch tool, or standard copper crimp rings on cross-linked PEX tubing. Intended as a replacement for brass PEX insert fittings.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified tradespeople following local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting tubing or making connections. Use a calibrated PEX crimp tool with copper crimp rings, or the specified cinch tool with cinch clamps, to secure each barb connection. Inspect each crimp or cinch for proper ring seating before pressurizing the system.
