The SHARKBITE CASH ACME UP274A5 is a poly alloy barb insert PEX elbow sold in a 5-pack, designed for use with cross-link polyethylene (PEX) tubing in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. The elbow transitions from 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch, making it a practical fitting for supply line reductions in hot and cold water distribution. Manufactured from NSF-listed poly alloy, these inserts serve as a compliant replacement for brass PEX insert fittings to meet California AB1953 low-lead requirements. Once crimped, each fitting can be immediately pressure-tested to well over 100 psi, supporting fast workflow on the job.
These fittings are suited for installation in potable hot and cold water systems using cross-link polyethylene PEX tubing. They are compatible with cinch clamp installation using the True Value 608-933 cinch clamp and True Value 608-743 cinch tool, or with standard copper crimp rings applied with a PEX crimp tool. Plumbers working in California or other low-lead compliance jurisdictions will find these poly alloy inserts a direct drop-in replacement for traditional brass fittings without sacrificing pressure performance.
Designed for use with cross-link polyethylene PEX tubing. Compatible with True Value 608-933 cinch clamp and True Value 608-743 cinch tool, or standard copper crimp rings on PEX tubing. Serves as a low-lead replacement for brass PEX insert fittings to conform to California AB1953 requirements.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers using either a PEX cinch clamp tool or a copper crimp ring tool. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting and fitting. Ensure tubing is cut cleanly and squarely before seating the barb insert fully into the PEX tubing. Follow local plumbing codes, including applicable IPC or state-adopted standards, for PEX fitting installation and pressure testing requirements.
