The SHARKBITE UC248LFA is a 1/2-inch PEX barb elbow fitting designed to connect PEX tubing at a 90-degree angle in potable water and hydronic heating systems. Constructed from lead-free DZR brass, this fitting offers reliable corrosion resistance in both hot and cold water applications. The barbed design creates a secure mechanical connection when used with either a stainless steel clamp system or a copper crimp ring system. Clamps and crimp rings are sold separately. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during new construction, remodels, and system repairs where PEX tubing is the distribution pipe of choice.
This elbow fitting is suited for residential and light commercial potable water distribution lines as well as hydronic radiant heating systems. It performs in applications where a directional change is needed at a branch point or along a run of PEX tubing. The fitting meets ASTM F1807 dimensional standards and carries NSF/ANSI 61 certification for drinking water system components, along with NSF 372 compliance for lead-free content. Its compact size and straightforward barb-and-clamp or barb-and-crimp installation method make it a practical choice for tight spaces and high-volume residential rough-in work.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch PEX tubing in stainless steel clamp systems or copper crimp ring systems in potable water distribution and hydronic heating installations. Clamp rings and crimp rings are sold separately.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM F1807 guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing system. Use the appropriate PEX clamp tool or copper crimp tool sized for 1/2-inch fittings to achieve a proper seal. Do not overtighten or attempt to install without the correct tool, as improper crimping or clamping can result in joint failure.
