The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC248LFA is a lead-free brass barb insert elbow designed to connect two lengths of 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing at a 90-degree angle. Built for potable water systems, it meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009, ASTM F1807, and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Annex G for lead-free compliance. The wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, satisfying California AB1953 and Vermont VT S152 low-lead restrictions. Sold in a package of 24 fittings, this elbow is a reliable choice for residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in work performed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters.
This fitting is used wherever a 90-degree directional change is needed in a 1/2-inch PEX tubing run. Typical applications include residential water supply lines, radiant heating distribution, and retrofit plumbing installations. Barb ends are secured to PEX pipe using cinch clamps with a compatible cinch tool, or copper crimp rings with a standard crimp tool. The assembly is immediately testable to well over 100 psi, allowing pressure testing to proceed without waiting for curing or setting time.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing. Compatible with cinch clamps and a cinch tool, or copper crimp rings and a crimp tool for securing barb ends. Intended for systems transporting potable water.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or fitting PEX tubing. Use the appropriate crimp or cinch tool to achieve a full, even seal on the barb connection. Do not use open flame or soldering equipment on PEX fittings.
