The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC072LFCP25 is a lead-free brass barb insert adapter designed to connect 1/2 inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing to 1/2 inch female iron pipe thread (FPT) fittings or pipe ends. Sold in a 25-piece pack, this fitting is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where PEX tubing transitions to threaded pipe or fittings. The barb end secures to PEX tubing using cinch clamps with a cinch tool or copper crimp rings with a crimp tool. The assembly is immediately testable to well over 100 psi once installed, and the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight to meet current low-lead standards.
This adapter is used in potable water distribution systems where PEX tubing must transition to a threaded connection. Typical applications include residential water supply lines, manifold stub-outs, and fixture connections where a barb-to-female-thread transition is required. The 25-piece pack format suits service plumbers stocking trucks or contractors roughing in multiple fixtures. The fitting is compliant with NSF/ANSI 14-2009, ASTM F1807, and ANSI/NSF 61 Annex G, making it suitable for systems carrying drinking water in states with strict low-lead requirements including California and Vermont.
Designed for use with 1/2 inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing on the barb end and 1/2 inch male iron pipe thread (MIP) pipe ends or fittings on the threaded end. Barb end is compatible with cinch clamps used with a TV 608-933 cinch tool or copper crimp rings used with a standard crimp tool per ASTM F1807.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making or modifying any connections. Secure the barb end to PEX tubing using the appropriate cinch clamp or copper crimp ring and the correct tool for each method — do not use barb fittings without proper mechanical retention. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before tightening the FPT connection to avoid leaks.
