The SHARKBITE UC016LFA10 is a lead free brass barb insert coupling designed to join two sections of 3/4 inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing. Sold in a 10-pack, this fitting is manufactured from lead free brass and meets current low-lead requirements for potable water systems. The barb insert design creates a secure mechanical connection when used with cinch clamps and a cinch tool or with copper crimp rings and a crimp tool. Once installed, the system is immediately testable to well over 100 psi, making it well suited for pressure verification during rough-in or commissioning. Licensed plumbers and journeyman-level tradespeople typically install these fittings in residential and light commercial PEX distribution systems.
This coupling is intended for use in potable water supply systems where 3/4 inch PEX tubing is the pipe material. It is commonly installed in residential hot and cold water distribution, radiant heating supply lines, and retrofit plumbing applications where flexible PEX replaces rigid copper or CPVC. The barb-style connection is compatible with both cinch clamp and crimp ring installation methods, giving installers flexibility based on available tooling on the job site.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into existing pipe. Ensure PEX tubing ends are cut cleanly and squarely before seating the barb insert fully into the tubing. Inspect clamp or crimp ring placement and use the appropriate go/no-go gauge to verify a correct crimp before pressurizing the system.
