The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC016LFA is a 3/4-inch lead-free brass barb insert coupling designed to join two sections of 3/4-inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing. The barbed ends create a mechanical grip on the tubing, which is then secured using cinch clamps with a cinch tool or copper crimp rings with a crimp tool. Once installed, the joint is immediately testable to well over 100 psi. The brass construction and lead-free formulation make it suitable for potable water systems in residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This coupling is used in PEX-based water distribution systems where a straight inline connection is needed between two runs of 3/4-inch PEX tubing. Typical applications include residential hot and cold supply lines, hydronic radiant heating circuits, and retrofit plumbing work where flexible tubing is preferred over rigid copper or CPVC. It is compatible with standard cinch clamp systems using the TV 608-826 cinch clamps and TV 608-743 cinch tool, as well as copper crimp rings and a standard crimp tool per ASTM F 1807 requirements.
Designed for use with 3/4-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing. Compatible with TV 608-826 cinch clamps and TV 608-743 cinch tool, or standard copper crimp rings and crimp tool per ASTM F 1807.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing tubing. Insert the barbed ends fully into the PEX tubing before applying clamps or crimp rings — partial insertion is the most common cause of joint failure. Verify the completed joint meets system pressure requirements before returning the line to service.
