The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UAB116LFA is a PEX-A brass adapter designed to transition a 1/2-inch PEX-A pipe to a 3/4-inch male NPT threaded connection using an expansion sleeve. The fitting is constructed from brass and uses the PEX expansion method, which requires an expansion sleeve and compatible expansion tool before insertion. This fitting is typically installed by licensed plumbers working on residential or light commercial potable water systems where PEX-A pipe must connect to threaded components such as valves, manifolds, or threaded ports on water heaters and fixture shutoffs.
This adapter is suited for residential plumbing systems using PEX-A tubing where a transition to a male pipe thread is required. Common installation scenarios include connecting PEX distribution lines to threaded valve bodies, appliance connections, or other threaded fittings within a water supply system. The 1/2-inch PEX-A inlet paired with the 3/4-inch MNPT outlet accommodates step-up connections commonly found at main shutoffs or manifold outlet transitions.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch PEX-A pipe and compatible expansion sleeves in residential and light commercial potable water supply systems. Consult the manufacturer for confirmation of specific tool and sleeve compatibility before installation.
Installation requires a PEX-A pipe expansion tool and the appropriate expansion sleeve - this is not a push-to-connect fitting. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. Thread the MNPT outlet into the receiving fitting by hand first, then use the appropriate wrench to snug the connection with thread sealant tape applied per IPC guidelines. This fitting should be installed by a licensed plumber in jurisdictions requiring permitted plumbing work.
