The SHARKBITE UA70R10 is a 3/4-inch by 10-foot red PEX-A cross-linked polyethylene pipe designed for residential and commercial plumbing systems. PEX-A is manufactured using the Engel method, which produces a highly flexible tubing with strong shape memory. This flexibility reduces the number of fittings required on a run, lowering both material cost and the number of potential leak points. The red color coding identifies hot-water lines at a glance, speeding rough-in and inspection. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this tubing in both new construction and remodel applications where durable, corrosion-resistant piping is required.
This tubing is suited for hot and cold potable water distribution in residential homes, light commercial buildings, and hydronic heating layouts. The PEX-A designation indicates the highest degree of cross-linking among PEX grades, giving the pipe superior flexibility in cold temperatures and resistance to stress cracking. The red color convention makes it a standard choice for hot-water supply lines, radiant floor heating circuits, and baseboard heating loops where color-coded identification is required by local code or preferred by the installing contractor.
SharkBite PEX-A UA70R10 is compatible with PEX F-1960 expansion fittings, EvoPEX fittings, and PEX F-1807/2159 crimp and clamp fittings as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM F876/F877 standards. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Use the appropriate expansion, crimp, or clamp tool matched to the fitting standard being used — do not mix fitting systems on a single connection. Protect tubing from prolonged UV exposure, as polyethylene degrades under direct sunlight when left unsheathed.
