The SharkBite UA60B100 is a 0.5-inch by 100-foot roll of blue PEX-A cross-linked polyethylene pipe designed for residential and commercial potable water plumbing systems. PEX-A construction gives this tubing superior flexibility over PEX-B and PEX-C, allowing it to bend around obstacles without fittings and to be repaired by simply applying heat to remove kinks. The blue color coding indicates cold-water service lines, making it easy to distinguish supply runs during rough-in. Plumbers and pipefitters working in new construction or remodel applications install this tubing for both domestic hot and cold water distribution, though the blue designation is conventionally used for cold supply.
This pipe is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations including main supply lines, branch lines, and manifold distribution systems. Its flexibility reduces the number of elbow and coupling fittings required across long runs, lowering both material cost and the number of potential leak points in the system. Compatible fittings include PEX F-1960 expansion fittings, EvoPEX fittings, and PEX F-1807 and F-2159 crimp or clamp-style fittings, giving installers flexibility in connection method based on job conditions and available tooling.
Compatible with PEX F-1960 expansion fittings, EvoPEX fittings, and PEX F-1807 and F-2159 crimp and clamp-style fittings. Designed for residential and commercial potable water plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the main water supply and depressurize the system before making any connections. Use the appropriate expansion, crimp, or clamp tool matched to the fitting standard being used, as mismatched tooling can result in improper connections. Support tubing at intervals per local code requirements and protect pipe from UV exposure, as PEX is not rated for outdoor or direct-sunlight applications.
