The SHARKBITE CASH ACME U860W50 is a 1/2-inch CTS (Copper Tube Size) PEX-B pipe coil, 50 feet in length, in white. It is manufactured using the silane cross-linking method (Type B), which incorporates additional anti-oxidants and thermal stabilizers. These additives are especially important in chlorinated water systems and recirculation applications. The pipe is rated at 1,100 psi at 73 degrees F and 375 psi at 180 degrees F, making it suitable for both hot and cold potable water distribution. Plumbers and pipefitters install this pipe in residential and light commercial water supply systems.
The U860W50 is intended for hot and cold potable water supply lines in residential and light commercial plumbing. It is compatible with 1/2-inch Quick Connect and brass PEX insert fittings. The white color coding is commonly used to designate cold water lines or as a general-purpose run. Type B PEX (silane method) carries a strong chlorine resistance rating, making it well suited for municipally supplied water systems and closed-loop recirculation systems where chlorine degradation is a concern.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch Quick Connect and brass PEX insert fittings meeting ASTM SDR-9 certification. Compatible with fittings from other manufacturers provided they carry ASTM SDR-9 certification, without voiding the 25-year material warranty.
Licensed plumbers should follow local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements when routing PEX through walls or slabs. Power down or shut off the water supply before cutting into existing lines. Support pipe every 30 inches both vertically and horizontally, and protect pipe where it enters or exits slabs or walls. Maintain minimum clearances: 18 inches from water heaters, boilers, and wood-burning appliances; 12 inches from recessed lights; 6 inches from gas appliance vents. Do not use duct tape, pipe dope, threading compound, or mineral or linseed oil with this pipe, and do not kink the pipe or expose it to direct sunlight.
