The SHARKBITE CASH ACME U860R50 is a 1/2-inch CTS (Copper Tube Size) PEX-B pipe coil, 50 feet in length, color-coded red for hot water distribution. Manufactured using the Type B silane cross-linking method, this pipe carries enhanced concentrations of anti-oxidants and thermal stabilizers, making it well-suited for chlorinated water systems and recirculation loops. Burst pressure is rated at 1,100 psi at 73 degrees F and 375 psi at 180 degrees F. Licensed plumbers install this pipe in both new construction and retrofit applications where flexible, corrosion-resistant water distribution tubing is required.
The U860R50 is intended for residential and light commercial hot water supply lines. It is compatible with 1/2-inch Quick Connect and brass PEX insert fittings meeting ASTM SDR-9 standards, including fittings from other manufacturers carrying ASTM SDR-9 certification. Typical applications include potable water distribution, hydronic heating supply lines, and domestic hot water recirculation systems where PEX-B tubing is specified. The red color coding aids in distinguishing hot from cold lines during rough-in.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch Quick Connect and brass PEX insert fittings. Compatible with fittings from other manufacturers that carry ASTM SDR-9 certification. The 25-year warranty coverage applies when paired with ASTM SDR-9 certified fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before cutting or connecting pipe. Support the pipe every 30 inches both vertically and horizontally, and protect it where it passes through slabs or walls. Do not use duct tape, pipe dope, threading compound, or mineral or linseed oil with this pipe. Maintain minimum clearances: 18 inches from water heaters, boilers, and wood-burning appliances; 12 inches from recessed lights; 6 inches from gas appliance vents. Do not kink the pipe or expose it to direct sunlight.
