Product Description

The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC600LFA10 is a lead-free brass barb insert adapter designed to connect 1/2 inch PEX tubing to 1/2 inch copper pipe ends or copper fittings. Sold in a 10-pack, each fitting features a barb insert end that accepts 1/2 inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing and a female sweat end that solders directly onto copper. The wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, meeting AB1953 California and VT S152 Vermont low-lead restrictions. The fitting is immediately testable to well over 100 psi after installation, making it suitable for potable water distribution systems in residential and light commercial plumbing.

This adapter is used wherever a plumber needs to transition from PEX tubing to a copper sweat connection. Common applications include retrofitting copper-piped systems with PEX supply lines, connecting PEX runs to existing copper manifolds or branch lines, and new construction where mixed-material piping is specified. The female sweat end accepts standard 1/2 inch copper pipe or fittings. Each fitting in the pack is interchangeable, so installers can work through multiple connections from a single package without interruption.

Compatibility

Designed for use with 1/2 inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing on the barb end and 1/2 inch copper pipe or copper fittings on the female sweat end. Barb end is compatible with standard copper crimp rings and crimp tools as well as cinch-style clamps.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Solder the female sweat end to copper before securing the barb end to PEX tubing — soldering heat must not be applied after the PEX barb connection is made. Secure the barb end using copper crimp rings with a crimp tool or approved cinch clamps and a cinch tool; do not use barb fittings without a mechanical retention method.
