The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC4016LFA is a lead-free brass transition coupling designed to connect 3/4-inch polybutylene (PB) tubing to 3/4-inch PEX tubing using stainless steel cinch clamps. The polybutylene end features a brass barb connection, while the PEX end accepts standard cinch-clamp installation with a compatible cinch tool. This coupling meets SDR-9 dimensional standards and is certified under ASTM F-876 and ASTM F-877. It is installed by licensed plumbers during PB-to-PEX system conversions or repairs in residential and light commercial potable water applications. Lead content on wetted surfaces is less than 0.25 percent by weight, satisfying low-lead regulations in potable water systems.
This coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where existing polybutylene supply lines require transition to modern PEX tubing. It is suited for both hot and cold water lines and is NSF CL-R certified for use in hot water systems where chlorinated water up to 140 degrees F is continuously recirculated. Installation uses a stainless steel cinch clamp applied with cinch tool TV 608-743. It is appropriate for retrofit and repair work in systems originally plumbed with PB pipe, a common scenario in homes built between the late 1970s and mid-1990s.
