The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC274LFA is a lead free brass barb insert elbow designed to connect 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing at a 90-degree angle. Constructed from lead free brass, the wetted surfaces of this fitting contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, meeting California AB1953 and Vermont VT S152 low-lead restrictions. The fitting accepts standard cinch clamps or copper crimp rings for securing each barb end to PEX pipe. Once installed, connections are immediately testable to well over 100 psi. Licensed plumbers and experienced pipe fitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting in residential and light commercial water distribution systems.
This elbow is intended for use in PEX piping systems where a direction change is required between two different tube sizes. The 3/4-inch barb end connects to 3/4-inch PEX pipe and the 1/2-inch barb end connects to 1/2-inch PEX pipe. The 3/4-inch barb end can be secured using cinch clamps with a compatible cinch tool or copper crimp rings with a crimp tool. The 1/2-inch barb end is similarly secured using the appropriate cinch clamps and cinch tool or copper crimp rings. This fitting is suitable for potable water transport applications and meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009, ASTM F1807, and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Annex G.
Designed for use with 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing. Cinch clamp installation requires a compatible cinch tool and appropriate cinch clamps for each pipe size. Copper crimp ring installation requires a standard crimp tool and correctly sized crimp rings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing piping. Ensure PEX tubing ends are cleanly cut and fully seated onto the barb before applying cinch clamps or crimp rings. Do not overtighten clamps beyond tool-stop engagement, and verify connections by pressure testing before closing up the work area.
