The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC118LFA is a lead-free brass PEX barb adapter used to transition 3/8-inch PEX tubing to a 1/2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection. Designed for use with stainless steel cinch clamps and compatible cinch tools, this adapter provides a secure, corrosion-resistant joint in potable water systems. Constructed from brass with wetted surfaces containing less than 0.25 percent lead by weight, it meets current low-lead requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial supply lines where PEX tubing connects to threaded pipe or fixture valves.

This adapter is suited for potable cold and hot water distribution systems using PEX tubing secured with stainless steel cinch clamps. It is NSF CL-R certified for use in hot water systems where chlorinated water at up to 140 degrees F is constantly recirculated. The fitting conforms to SDR-9 dimensional standards and is appropriate for residential plumbing rough-in and retrofit applications requiring a barb-to-male-thread transition.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Use a calibrated stainless steel cinch clamp tool to secure the PEX tubing onto the barb end — do not use worm-gear clamps on this fitting type. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before making the threaded connection.
