Product Description

The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC116LFA is a lead-free brass barb insert adapter designed to connect 1/2-inch PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) tubing to a 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) fitting or pipe end. The barb end seats into the PEX tubing and is secured with cinch clamps or copper crimp rings using the appropriate installation tooling. The fitting is immediately testable to well over 100 psi once installed, making it suited for pressure-verification workflows on potable water systems. Licensed plumbers install this fitting in residential and light commercial water distribution applications wherever PEX transitions to threaded iron pipe connections are required.

This adapter is used in PEX-based potable water distribution systems where a 1/2-inch PEX line must terminate or transition into a 3/4-inch female iron pipe thread (FIP) port on a valve, manifold, fixture, or fitting. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in and retrofit work. The lead-free brass construction meets California AB1953 and Vermont VT S152 low-lead restrictions, making it compliant for potable water use in all U.S. jurisdictions with low-lead mandates.

Compatibility

Designed for use with 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing and 3/4-inch female iron pipe thread (FIP) fittings, valves, or pipe ends on potable water systems. Secure with TV 608-933 cinch clamps using the TV 608-743 cinch tool, or with copper crimp rings and a compatible crimp tool.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting and fitting the PEX tubing. Slide the cinch clamp or crimp ring onto the PEX tubing before inserting the barb end fully into the tube, then position the clamp or ring per tool manufacturer specifications and complete the crimp or cinch. Thread the MPT end into the FIP fitting by hand first, then tighten with a wrench — do not overtighten brass threads into FIP connections.
