The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC094LFA is a lead-free brass barb adapter designed to connect 1-inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing to a 1-inch female iron pipe thread (FPT) fitting or pipe end. The barbed insert end accepts standard 1-inch PEX tubing secured with cinch clamps or copper crimp rings using compatible tools. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance suited to potable water systems. The adapter meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009, ASTM F 1807, and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Annex G for lead-free compliance, with wetted surfaces containing less than 0.25% lead by weight. It is immediately testable to well over 100 psi after installation.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications where PEX tubing transitions to threaded iron pipe connections. Typical install scenarios include retrofitting existing iron pipe systems with PEX supply lines, connecting PEX runs to threaded valves or manifolds, and new construction rough-in plumbing. The part is sold in a package of 6 units, making it practical for multi-connection jobs. To secure the barb end to PEX pipe, the installer may use TV 597-556 cinch clamps with a TV 608-743 cinch tool, or TV 597-325 copper crimp rings with a TV 597-693 crimp tool. Clamps, crimp rings, and tools are not included.
Designed to connect 1-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing to 1-inch male iron pipe thread pipe ends or fittings. Compatible securing accessories include TV 597-556 cinch clamps, TV 608-743 cinch tool, TV 597-325 copper crimp rings, and TV 597-693 crimp tool (sold separately).
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Ensure PEX tubing is cut square and fully seated onto the barb before applying the cinch clamp or crimp ring. Do not over-bend PEX tubing close to the fitting, as this can stress the connection and compromise the seal.
