The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC068LFA is a lead-free brass PEX barb adapter designed to transition from 1/2 inch PEX tubing to a 3/4 inch female NPT threaded connection. The barb end is compatible with stainless steel cinch clamps installed using a cinch tool, providing a secure, corrosion-resistant joint in potable water systems. Constructed from brass and meeting NSF 14 and NSF 61 standards, this adapter is suitable for both cold and hot water service. NSF CL-R certification confirms suitability for hot water recirculation systems where chlorinated water up to 140 degrees F is continuously circulated. Lead content of the wetted surface is less than 0.25% by weight, satisfying California AB1953 and Vermont VT S152 low-lead requirements.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing installations where PEX tubing is transitioned to a threaded fitting at a valve, fixture shutoff, water heater connection, or manifold port. It is installed by licensed plumbers and experienced pipefitters working with PEX systems built to SDR-9 dimensional standards per ASTM F-876 and ASTM F-877. Typical applications include potable water supply lines, hot water recirculation loops, and any system requiring a reliable barb-to-female-thread transition with cinch-clamp retention.
Designed for use with PEX tubing connected via stainless steel cinch clamps and cinch tool TV 608-743, conforming to ASTM F-876 and ASTM F-877 SDR-9 dimensional standards. Meets CSA B137.5 standards for PEX piping systems in potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line or removing existing fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the female NPT threads before making up the threaded connection. Use the correct cinch tool and properly sized stainless steel cinch clamps on the barb end to achieve a leak-free crimp; do not substitute worm-gear clamps.
