The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME 65724B is a gas fitting adapter designed to connect a 5/8-inch OD flare to a 3/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread. The flare end connects to the gas connector nut, while the male end threads into the gas appliance inlet, gas ball valve, or gas supply stub-out. This fitting is used in gas piping systems serving ranges and boilers. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters install this type of fitting as part of final appliance connections. The package includes one 5/8-inch OD Flare x 3/4-inch FIP fitting. Thread sealant must never be applied to the flared ends of this fitting.
This fitting is suited for residential gas appliance hookups, including range and boiler installations. It bridges the gas connector nut at the appliance supply line to the inlet of a range, boiler, gas ball valve, or supply stub-out. The 5/8-inch OD flare configuration is a common standard in residential gas connector assemblies. Installation is typically performed during new appliance setup or appliance replacement in both new construction and retrofit scenarios.
Designed for use with most range and boiler gas inlets. Connects to standard gas connector nuts via the 5/8-inch OD flare end and to gas appliance inlets, gas ball valves, or gas supply stub-outs via the 3/4-inch FIP end.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified gas fitter in accordance with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply at the main valve before beginning work and verify zero pressure before making any connections. The flare connection relies on a proper metal-to-metal seat — do not apply thread sealant, pipe dope, or PTFE tape to the flared ends. After installation, test all connections for leaks using an approved gas leak detection solution.
